Neoteric occurrences

Wow. A lot has been going on. I don't really even know where to start.

We bought a camper/trailer. That was a biggie. We are completely moved out of the house in town. This family has been more than kind in providing us with shelter whilst we try to get our trailer livable.

One of my buddies and I put up a couple of strands of barbed wire to keep out the neighbor's cows, and in the midst of our labors, some more friends showed up and lent us a hand. Thanks, y'all.

Moo.

Stretch it

Staple it

Untangle it

Untangle it some more

Hand the demanding people the tools

The driveway is nearly finished. It looks very good. Hopefully we can get the trailer up the hill next week.

"Jolly good day, don't you think?"

Yesterday me and my gang cleaned out the barn and were successfully able to avoid Reba G. ;) There was an entire room filled with old clothes, corn cobs, corn husks, and other trinkets. Burn it we did. Burned it dead. Oh! Three of us young folks took CLEPs yesterday and all passed! That was a relief. Last night was movie night. We watched one of my favorties...Remember the Titans. I have no clue what we are doing today, but I'd better get busy doing it.

Closed

We are thanking the Lord for a smooth closing on the 73 acre property on Sulphur Creek Rd.

Many thanks to our agent for his real estate expertise, detective skills, off-road driving maneuvers, and many hours of showing property to us. Wait...It'd be more like many, many, many, many, many--"Through yet?!?!?!"--manymanyhours showing property to us. We had a lot of fun. Thanks for sticking with us.

Thanks to everyone for your support, counsel, and prayers. Please continue to pray as we try figure out what to do next!

Land Photos

We have a signed contract on a beautiful 73-acre piece of land. We hope to close this week. I'm so thankful that we finally found some property that met all of our requirements. It's amazing how the Lord worked it all out; just in the nick of time, too. Here are some photos.

Alabama Trip

On Saturday, we went to this wedding in Alabama. Some friends of ours picked us up in their 15-passenger van, and we made the four-hour trip together. We had a fun ride. We just barely arrived in time to change into our fancy clothes. The wedding was beautiful and we saw quite a few of our acquaintances at the reception. Here are some pictures we took afterwards.

Temporary Residence

We are currently living 3 blocks off of the Centerville town square, house sitting for Mr. & Mrs. L. They were very gracious to offer the house to us until they move in April.

Cranium

The other night we played a right jolly game of Cranium during our Lord's Day evening fellowship. It was awesome to see men, women, and children all participating together. Supper consisted of fried rice and egg rolls. Here's some pictures:

Moving Pictures

The Lingo family cannot express enough gratitude to the family and friends who came and helped us moved. It is amazingly awesome to have friends that will drive 6 hours to help load a moving truck, turn right back around for 6 more hours of driving only to help you unload the trucks amid bitter cold. We truly appreciate all of the people who helped us, whether by loading trucks, bringing food, encouraging us, and just being there to have sweet fellowship. We now have all of three of our 26ft moving truck loads safely in storage.

Snow. Snow flurries, rather.

We'll Miss You! Y'all Come Visit!

Our friends at Christ Reformed Church gave us a sweet send-off party tonight. Thanks so much for your kind words of encouragement and your prayers.
We love you all dearly.

Why We're Moving to Tennessee

A lot of people have asked us, "Why would you want to move to Centerville, TN?" No, it's not because of its prime location - only a stone's-throw southwest of Buzzard Roost and a scoach southeast of Bucksnort. And it's not because it's the birthplace of Minnie Pearl, though that is a perty big howdee-do. You see, it has to do with helping plant a church that is a covenant community and taking dominion over the land, all to further Christ's Kingdom. In our post-modern American culture, if you're moving for a job promotion, well that's certainly understandable. But if your moving for church community...well... that sounds a little, shall we say...strange? Let us see if we can explain. No, better yet, let us point you to this link. Pastor Schlissel explains our thoughts so much more eloquently than we ever could. We hope you'll take a moment to read what he has to say.

Packing...

Gimli got into this box all by himself!

Christmas 2007

We had a nice Christmas this year. On Christmas Eve, we went to Granddaddy and Grammie's house, where we had our traditional dinner of Sinclair Duck (standing rib roast, for those of you who don't remember my post from last Christmas), shrimp, rolls, coleslaw, asparagus, macaroni & cheese, and lots of dessert.

On Christmas morning, we packed moving boxes (something we'd never done on Christmas Day before). That afternoon, we went over to Pop pop and Maw maw's house. They fixed a delicious supper of ham, potato salad, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, etc. We spent the night with them, and the next day my uncle and aunt came over. We visited for awhile before we opened presents. We ate a nice lunch at P.F. Chang's.

Anyway, here are some pictures. Enjoy!

My three cousins took turns reading the story of Jesus' birth from Luke 2.
They all read very nicely.
