Labor Day 2007

Here is a video I just finished of our trip to the lake for Labor Day. Actually, we changed the oil in the boat on Labor Day. This is really the day after. The actual "holiday" saw the lake jam-packed with boats and PFD's...I mean PWC's. The next day we had the lake to ourselves.

Dad did all this with a hurt back...wow. Hmm, I wonder why he could barely move the next day.

Hunter and Pippin Take a Vacation

Our dear friends went to the beach, but their canines , Hunter (a golden retriever) and Pippin (a Welsh corgi) decided they'd rather vacation with us here at the farm.

Here they are helping Tricia Ann can some peaches.Later, they helped Jacob study his American Government.

Of course, they took some time out to simply get in some rest and relaxation.

And Gimli decided to chill out for a while, too. So he plopped down in his favorite spot -- the air vent!

Pastured Poultry

Batch #1 is now at the midpoint of 4 weeks. They are growing nicely. They are now at the stage where they look like they've outgrown their feathers.

Hollyhocks

Finally, after waiting all summer for my hollyhocks to bloom, here they are!!! They are about six feet tall, and very pretty. They are supposed to be assorted colors, but so far only two are blooming, and they are both bright pink.

Herb Garden

Here are the pictures of my herb garden that I promised to post. I'm growing thyme, rosemary, oregano, lemon basil, lemon balm, 2 kinds of mint, calendula, sage, chives, and lavender, along with various and sundry kinds of flowers. In my square foot garden I have chamomile, feverfew, parsley, basil and cilantro. I planted several other kinds of herbs, but the seeds never germinated.

Zinnias are my favorite!
