Readying the Garden for Next Spring

Our garden has been cleared of most of the summer plants. The few remaining plants are the okra, sweet potatoes, peanuts, and some pumpkins. We are blessed to live next door to a family with horses. They provide us with all the manure that we can use. So, Jacob made a big pile next to the garden. Tricia Ann and I spread it over the cleared plots and Philip tilled it all in nicely. Then he limed it and planted a cover crop of rye. The spring plants should be happy!
